Countertop Update

Well they are working in fixing the issue. As some may remember we ordered our counter tops over a month and half ago now and when they delivered them....they delivered the wrong counter and we found out they never even fabricated ours!

Back to the waiting game...3 more weeks they said - Uhgg! So we are waiting. Next week is the magic date they gave us. We will see. Not holding my breath. That is for sure.

Hardware help...

Still no update on the counter top situation. They know how it happened but have not called me yet to tell me as to what they plan on doing to fix it. We shall see. So we will move on for now...before I go crazy and make husband sell the house and get a maintenance free condo. Oh how a the idea of a brand new place with all new floors, and paint makes me feel happy. As you can see I am so over this kitchen remodel...

We ordered the wallpaper...its not at all what I talked about here, sorry guys & ladies. I had a change of heart after the floors didn't pan out. I went with a light and airy birdy theme, and I love it. Really I do. This paper makes me smile and I think it's what has kept me going on the project, along w/beers, and a martini here & there. It's from Artworks Living by Patton Wall coverings - we ordered ours through Sherwin Williams and got 45% discount right off the top, it took less than 4 days to ship to :) So pretty. We also decided on lights from Rejuvenation! We ordered the Rose City light fixture for above the island, and the Lombard fixture to go above the sink in the polished nickel finish. They are being installed right now as I type!

So here is our kitchen mock up with the hardware ideas:

So which hardware set do you like most?

Set #1 _________________Set #2__________________ Set #3

~Mix & Match if you like~

Set #1 is a drawer pull by Hickory Hardware, and kelly green knob by Anthropologie

Set #2 is a drawer pull by Hickory Hardware, and aqua blue knob by Anthropologie

Set # 3 is the same drawer pull as set #1, and a Nickel finish knob by Hickory Hardware

I also liked these but am still unsure how they would look:

a)b)c)d)

e)f)g)

All from Anthropologie cause I am creative like that...no I just love them all & I can't help it. I am sure that after this kitchen remodel you will be seeing some of these pop up around the house :)

So which is your favorite?

a) Granita Knob teal
b) Bubbled Glass Knob pink
c) Bubbled Glass Knob clear
d) Medaglione Knob blue
e) Frit Flower Knob
f) Medaglione Knob black
g) Nouveau Knob green

I love them all.

Update: wtf. Countertop is the wrong one.

Bad news. They came and delivered the counter top today. Wrong color, right size. Yep. The saga continues. I will let you all know more tomorrow after I go down and raise a little hell. This will be interesting. The sample below is what was bought and paid for. fun stuff.

See sample? Not the same as the background, huh?

Weekend Update: Kitchen Reno. Week 8

The kitchen is coming along well. We are still waiting on our counter top to come in, hopefully sometime this week (fingers crossed). We could really use the running water in the kitchen, doing dishes in the bathroom sink is getting really old.

This weekend we tackled the kitchen floor.

As some of you may remember we where unable to get the dream floor tiles that I drooled over. Well we got 95% of the gross black tar paper up and moved forward, chin up. So we rented a floor sander and went to work. Everything we read online talked about a drum sander. Well our helpful little-grandpa-guy at the tool rental has been a great help once again. He suggested this 4 pod type sander instead.

He said we would have more control, and much less chance of gouging the floors this way. He sent us on our way with the mighty sander and 3 hours later this is what we saw:

The hardwoods are so pretty! He was so right...the sander was easy to use, had a bag on the back and I swear virtually no dust! We still wore protective eye wear and face masks, but it was nothing like I had expected. Clean up was a breeze with this thing.

We haven't determined yet what color we are going to stain the floors, but a dark shade seems to be the talk. We bought some of the tester cans and are going to play with a few of them tonight to see if dark is the way to go. I love the floor in this kitchen:

I also thought whitewashing the floors might look neat...

Or maybe even a stencil...

Any thoughts on dark shades, or dark shades with light stencils?
